Kiki’s home was a colorful, underwater grotto adorned with glowing sea anemones and shimmering coral. Every October, he transformed his grotto into a Halloween wonderland, filling it with sparkling kelp lanterns and seashells painted like jack-o’-lanterns. Kiki's favorite part of the celebration was creating eerie but delightful decorations from bioluminescent algae, which cast ghostly glows that floated through the water like playful spirits. One year, as Halloween approached, Kiki decided to do something special. He wanted to share his love of the holiday with the creatures of the sea. He had heard tales of surface dwellers—humans—who celebrated Halloween with costumes and candy. Inspired, Kiki decided to throw the ocean’s very first Halloween party.
Word of Kiki’s party spread quickly through the ocean currents. The day of the celebration arrived, and sea creatures from far and wide gathered in her grotto. The dolphins arrived dressed as playful pirates, the seahorses as elegant witches, and the jellyfish floated in costumes resembling glowing ghosts.
The highlight of the party was the grand pumpkin lantern. Kiki had discovered a colossal sea pumpkin, which she carved with intricate designs of underwater scenes. When she lit it with a glowing, enchanted sea pearl, it cast a warm, flickering light that filled the grotto with a cozy, magical ambiance.
As the party progressed, Kiki noticed a group of shy deep-sea creatures lingering at the edge of the grotto. They were the anglerfish, known for their solitary nature and eerie glow. Kiki knew that these creatures often felt left out, so she decided to approach them with a friendly wave of her tentacle.
